Milestones in Excellence: Pioneering Female Pilot Officer of Royal Malaysian Police Earns Master of Science Information Technology Degree

Shah Alam, 10 August 2023 – A trailblazer in every sense, Insp. Siti Nabilah Abdullah, one of the first four female pilot police officers in Malaysia, has once again risen to remarkable heights by earning her Master’s Degree through UiTM’s prominent Master of Science Information Technology (CS770) program. A student from the College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics (KPPIM), her unwavering commitment and dedication to both the skies and technology continue to inspire and redefine possibilities.

Hailing from Sitiawan, Perak, Siti Nabilah first made history and shattered the glass ceilings as one of Malaysia’s first female pilot police officers on 30th June 2023. Growing up in a family rooted in the naval armed forces, Siti Nabilah’s upbringing was surrounded by the embodiment of the uniform, with her parents, Bintara (B) Abdullah bin Ismail and Laskar Kanan (B) Zainab binti Osman, along with her brother, Leftenan Mohd Fahmi bin Abdullah (TLDM), all proudly serving the Malaysian Royal Navy. Her strong beliefs in justice, fairness, and professionalism sees her providing her service as Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Inspector. Moreover, personifying the values, principles, and responsibilities to not just improve oneself but the betterment of the society are critical values to her which inspired her to pursue a Master’s Degree.

Siti Nabilah’s commitment to her police duty and academic duties never faltered even when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country while she was pursuing her studies as a part time student. As information becomes scattered and data becomes the currency of the day, scammers run rampant. As an Intelligent Officer, Siti Nabilah worked tirelessly to gather intelligence data on scammers for the sake of public safety and to bring irresponsible parties to justice. Siti Nabila masterfully balanced her critical role as a police officer with her academic endeavours, illustrating her ability to rise to challenges and her unyielding spirit for excellence.

Siti Nabilah’s success undoubtedly stands as an inspiration to aspiring policewomen, her fellow officers, and all UiTM students. Dr Nurulhuda Noordin who served as her research project supervisor gives salute to Siti Nabilah’s dedication to her studies, commending her exceptional analytical abilities and her ability to seamlessly integrate IT principles and police values into all her tasks. Her unwavering commitment to both realms is a true embodiment of academic and professional excellence which set Dr Nurulhuda’s high confidence that Siti Nabilah would be able to navigate all commitments excellently.

As Siti Nabilah continues to safeguard our skies and streets, she remains steadfast in her commitment to advancing the capabilities of our police force through her IT skills. Her innovative work as an Intelligent Officer in the prestigious Bukit Aman PDRM Headquarters enabled her to leverage technology for crime prevention, data analysis, and strategic planning ensuring a safer and smarter Malaysia.

In a heartfelt message, Siti Nabilah shares her wisdom: “Parents’ blessings are paramount to one’s success. I believe that Allah has arranged the best for every person and I am always sincere and try my best in everything that I do”. For other police women who wish to break barriers and also for those who wish to pursue postgraduate studies, Siti Nabilah expressed, “We must have a strong soul and do not falter to challenges. If others underestimate us, prove them wrong. Remember that with dedication, there are no boundaries you cannot surpass.”
