After 5 months of intense competition, the International Virtual Educational Design, Invention and Innovation Competition 2022 (iVEDIIC2022) has finally reached its closure. The iVEDIIC2022’s Closing Ceremony and Winner Announcement was streamed live on the EDUTube Faculty of Education’s Official YouTube Channel on November 14th 2022, at 4 pm. The ceremony featured the recipients of the Special Jury Award for each of the competition categories (invention, innovation, design and product pithing) whilst the list of gold, silver and bronze winners was released on the iVEDIIC’s website. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh, Selangor, ‘walked home’ with the iVEDIIC2022’s Circulation Trophy after being announced as the recipient of the Special Award, having won the most number of medals for institutional participation.
Embracing ‘Humanising Innovation for Creative Society through Collaboration’ as its main theme, the culture of collaboration was galvanized through strategic partnerships between the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), as the main organizer with other partnering institutions. The iVEDIIC2022’s committee is highly appreciative of the role of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), Philippines, as the co-organizer, and the support showcased by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia; Pusat Kreatif Kanak-Kanak Tuanku Bainun and Pocket Production as the strategic partners.
Following the success of the first iVEDIIC organized in 2020, the 2022 edition highlighted additional features. These included 3 webinar series with topics targeted towards product improvement and enhancement of skills pertaining to the four competition categories. In addition, a series of iVEDIIC Attack was organized involving a road show by the iVEDIIC team to schools in the Klang Valley area promoting the competition as well as the importance of innovation and invention culture in cultivating meaningful teaching and learning experience. The participation of school students in the iVEDIIC2022 was rewarded with Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum (PAJSK) merit which was directly credited to their extra co-curricular activity.
Despite the lingering threat of Covid-19, the competition has successfully attracted close to 300 participants.
