FSKM FYP IEEE AWARD 2021: Unleashed The Potential Of The Students’ Technological Skills

Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA had organised IEEE Final Year Project Award on 9th to 10th of August 2021. The event was sponsored by IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Chapter and National Autism Research Centre (NARC), Universiti Teknologi MARA.

The competition aimed at providing students with a platform to showcase the outcome of their FYP, as well as to develop research interest among students. The competition also aimed to strengthen the linkage between IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Chapter and FSKM with the hope for more collaborations in the future.

10 projects have been shortlisted from a total of 405 final year students who did their Final Year Project from 6 different computing programs. The 10 finalists were subjected to rigorous rounds of screening. From 405, 27 best Final Year Projects were firstly selected for 1st round screening, followed by the top 10. The top 10 finalists showcased their project via a video presentation that was uploaded on Youtube as one of the awards is the Social Media Award in which the number of likes is counted. On the 9th of August 2021, each finalist was given the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges from the IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Chapter and FSKM.

Professor Ts. Dr Shukor Abd Razak, the Director of Research Management Centre, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Ts Dr Fakhrul Hazman b Yusoff from UiTM were the representatives from IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Chapter, while FSKM was represented by Professor Dr Nursuriati Jamil, Chairman National Autism Research Centre Universiti Teknologi MARA who was also act as the head of judges and Associate Professor Dr Fariza Hanis Abd Razak.

Students’ projects were timely, relevant to current technology, and highly diverse, as they covered a wide array of topics.

Grand Award was awarded to Mohd Zharfan Norzamri with his project called Scabtre: Supermarket Checkout Apps With Budget Tracker & Recommender Using Content-Based Filtering.

The top 5 projects that were awarded Innovative Award went to:

4) Nurin Miza Afiqah Binti Andrie Dazlee (Object Detection For Autonomous Vehicles With Sensor-Based Technology Using Yolo Algorithms)
5) Muhammad Shahrel Nizam Bin Rosbita (Upcraft: IoT Based Kiosk For Community Upcycling Management)

Top 3 Social Media Awards went to :
