“Envirovision: Assessing Noise and Air Particle Levels for a Cleaner Future – An International SULAM Activity in Indonesia, Organized by the College of Engineering UiTM”

INDONESIA, 20th June 2023 – A significant international program called “Envirovision: Evaluating Noise and Air Particle Assessments” was held on 2nd June 2023, at Pasar Pagi Arengka in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. This event was part of the Engineering in Society (ECC589) ‘SULAM’ course College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) . It involved 9 UiTM students and their lecturer, as well as 10 students and 4 lecturers from Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Pekanbaru in Indonesia. The event was also supported by Yayasan VFive, SMF from UiTM, and PT. Harista Karsa Mandiri, an established Indonesian consulting firm.

The main goal of the “Envirovision: Evaluating Noise and Air Particle Assessments” program was to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of noise levels, air quality, and visitor and seller satisfaction at Pasar Pagi Arengka. The program’s data will be thoroughly analyzed, and a detailed report will be presented to the Riau government for effective monitoring.

The knowledge-sharing sessions, in which lecturers and students from both institutions exchanged insights and ideas, were one of the program’s major highlights. “Engineers in Society 5.0” by Prof. Ts. Dr. Hj. Mohd Fadzil Arshad (UiTM), “Utilization of Coconut Palm Wood” by Ahmad Hamidi, ST., MT., “Geoelectric Work in Civil Engineering” by Ridho Azhari, and “Evaluation of Noise and Air Particle Assessments” by Nur Izzatul Syazwani Md Badarudin were among the topics covered.

Key outcomes of the “Envirovision” program:
1. Extensive research on noise and air particle pollution, addressing sources, effects, and management strategies.
2. Strong collaborations with government and industry stakeholders to tackle complex environmental issues.
3. Community engagement, raising awareness about the negative effects of pollution on public health.
4. Knowledge exchange among participants from different countries and institutions, sharing innovative ideas and research findings.

The successful implementation of the “Envirovision: Evaluating Noise and Air Particle Assessments” program demonstrates the commitment and dedication of the College of Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), as well as its collaboration with PT. Harista Karsa Mandiri. This international SULAM activity promotes sustainable practices and addresses environmental challenges for the betterment of society.
