Talk on Raises Awareness on Plastic Pollution by APB

SHAH ALAM, January 11, 2025 – Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB), UiTM Shah Alam, held a talk on January 10, 2025, to raise awareness about environmental issues, particularly plastic pollution, and promote eco-friendly practices.

The program aimed to educate students, lecturers, and staff on the harmful effects of excessive plastic usage, which contributes to water, soil, and air pollution.

“Despite government initiatives like the ‘no plastic bag’ policy and campaigns encouraging reusable grocery bags, many people remain unaware of the severity of the problem,” said a spokesperson from APB.

The talk also highlighted sustainable alternatives, such as using refillable water bottles, personal food containers, and eco-friendly cutlery and straws. Participants were encouraged to practice the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and spread awareness to family and friends.

“This talk is one of UiTM’s initiatives to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle among its stakeholders,” the spokesperson added.

Participants reported an increased awareness of environmental issues, particularly the need to reduce single-use plastic consumption.

“We hope this awareness will translate into action, and that everyone will collectively contribute to protecting the environment,” the spokesperson concluded.
