Kota Kinabalu, 28 May 2025 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Sabah marked a historic milestone with the graduation of the first cohort from the reinstated Bachelor of Accountancy (AC220) programme, relaunched in 2021 after being discontinued in 2014. The momentous event took place during the recent Convocation Ceremony and reflects UiTM Sabah’s continued academic growth and strategic focus on strengthening professional education.
A total of 72 students successfully completed their four-year academic journey, a feat made even more remarkable given the global challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. This achievement symbolises the resilience, renewal, and collective determination of both the students and the institution.
Ten graduates were honoured with the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Award (Anugerah Naib Canselor) in recognition of their academic excellence, leadership, and holistic development. Adding further prestige to the event, one graduate received the Anugerah Graduan Terbaik – Persatuan Alumni UiTM Cawangan Sabah, reflecting outstanding performance in both academic and co-curricular pursuits.

This pioneering cohort began their studies amid the programme’s early revival phase, displaying remarkable adaptability and strength as they navigated unprecedented uncertainties. Their success stands as a powerful testament to their dedication and perseverance.
The successful reestablishment of the Bachelor of Accountancy programme was made possible through strategic planning by UiTM Sabah, in collaboration with industry partners and UiTM alumni. These partnerships ensured the programme’s relevance and alignment with current professional standards while offering students critical exposure and networking opportunities.
UiTM Sabah extends heartfelt congratulations to all graduates and deep appreciation to the academic staff and lecturers for their unwavering support. The university also acknowledges the instrumental contributions of former Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy, Professor Dr. Haslinda Yusoff, and former Rector of UiTM Sabah, Datuk Dr. Abdul Kadir Rosline, whose visionary leadership played a key role in the programme’s successful revival.
As the university celebrates this significant achievement, it remains committed to further strengthening the Bachelor of Accountancy programme to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also ethical, industry-ready, and globally competitive.
