JSKM UiTMCPP Fosters ICT Skills among MRIQ Students through Mentor-Mentee Approach

Permatang Pauh, 25 April 2025 – “Bengkel Asas Pengkomputeran 3.0″ was successfully held at Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak (PTAR), UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, bringing together 25 Tahfiz students from Maahad Riyadhil Quran (MRIQ), Sungai Petani. Organized by the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (JSKM), this workshop continues the momentum of previous editions, with a stronger focus on collaboration and hands-on learning.

This third installment introduced a unique mentor-mentee concept, pairing senior Tahfiz students with new students to encourage peer support and continuity in learning. The aim was to bridge the digital divide and enhance the students’ foundational computing skills, with a specific focus on Microsoft PowerPoint—a progression from earlier modules in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Participants engaged in practical sessions using individual computers, guided by their mentors and supported by experienced JSKM facilitators. This interactive approach received positive feedback, helping students—many of whom had limited prior exposure to ICT—build confidence and deepen their understanding.

In addition to technical training, the workshop featured Q&A sessions and experience-sharing activities, further enriching the learning experience and fostering strong peer relationships. The program concluded with a certificate presentation and closing remarks by JSKM representatives.

JSKM hopes to expand this initiative in the future, aligning with the national agenda of nurturing a digitally literate and inclusive society.
