UiTM wins The BrandLaureate BestBrands Awards 2022 – the Nation’s Pride Brand of the Year Award

KUALA LUMPUR 26 August 2022 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is the recipient of The BrandLaureate BestBrands Awards 2022 – the Nation’s Pride Brand of the Year Award. This award is in recognition of the university’s commitment to achieving its goal and significant role in nation building through numerous academic, scientific, social, and community-based projects.

The World Brands Foundation (TWBF) hosted the BrandLaureate BestBrands Awards 2022 at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur yesterday, to celebrate and honour deserving individuals and brands that are market leaders in their respective industries. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, these outstanding brands persisted in strengthening their reputations, boosting the economy, and providing aid to those in need. As Malaysia celebrates its 65th year of independence, TWBF’s theme of One Nation, One Vision, One Brand encourages firms to take on the mission of growing the nation’s brand for greater worldwide reach and enhanced global awareness. Along with this theme, a notable category, the Nation’s Pride, was added to recognise the laudable contributions that exceptional organisations have made to nation building.

As the largest comprehensive university in the country, with 34 campuses (1 main campus, 12 state campuses and 21 satellite campuses), 17 faculties, 7 academic centres, 2 college of studies, 180,000 students per enrolment and 18,000 staff, UiTM has always risen to challenges and changes. Its accomplishments throughout 2020 to date while managing the disruptions brought on by the pandemic were no mean feat. Not only did UiTM acquire research funds totalling RM115,634,562.29, it also ranked 105th in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022 and 651–701 in the QS World University Rankings 2022. Hospitality and Leisure Management is recognised as the 42nd best subject worldwide, while 14 UiTM subjects are ranked in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk. Ts. Dr Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, is confident that UiTM has done right and excelled, and that it will continue its mission of providing a strong foundation to expand its visibility and branding by pursuing the mission of expanding industrial linkages on the global stage, improving the quality of academic studies through research, and collaborating with experts in various fields. UiTM will continue to offer first-class education and social services to its stakeholders. This award is also a timely honour as a gift to celebrate UiTM’s 23rd year as a full-fledged university today.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor at the gala dinner to receive the award was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Datin Dr Suzana Sulaiman. She said, “This recognition brings hope and motivation to all our personnel, including lecturers, students, and support staff. Elevating the education of the bumiputras is one of our primary objectives, and this is the driving force behind the efforts that UiTM is making to produce graduates with a more international perspective and achieving its strategic mission to be globally renowned by 2025.”

The awards gala dinner was attended by representatives of top brands from a variety of business industries, including multinational firms, government-linked companies, public listed companies, and large corporations, as well as prominent figures.
