SHAH ALAM, 25 MAY 2022 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr Roziah Mohd Janor, today received an official visit from the President of the University of Ottawa, Canada at UiTM Shah Alam. This visit is to formalise a two-way partnership between the two universities which witnessed a Letter of Intent signing ceremony between UiTM’s Vice-Chancellor and Mr Jacques Frémont, President of the University of Ottawa. UiTM is currently stepping up efforts to bolster its internationalisation efforts in line with its strategic plan towards making the public institution a Globally Renowned University by 2025.
Plans for a Memorandum of Understanding is expected to take place in the very near future to further strengthen ties with University of Ottawa which will greatly benefit both parties. The impact of this partnership will include enhancing staff and students mobility through summer programmes, sabbaticals, collaborative networking, as well as twinning programmes between both universities, hosting visiting professors, research and consultancy activities. The results of future collaborations offer potential impactful sustainable solutions to benefit communities that need them the most.
As the University of Ottawa’s niche area is mostly related to engineering studies, the delegation was also greeted by UiTM College of Engineering’s Assistant ViceChancellor, Professor Sr. Ir. Dr Hj Suhaimi Abdul Talib. During this trip, the delegation also visited laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art machineries and other facilities. The visit concluded with a formal luncheon at Hotel UiTM, as well as discussions on furthering both delegations’ strategic partnership in the future.
