UiTM signs MoU with two South Korean Institutions

SHAH ALAM- Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through its Smart Manufacturing Research Institute (SMRI) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a virtual ceremony with two institutions in South Korea to strengthen cooperation in the fields of aerospace, automotive and manufacturing.

The five-year MoU was forged with Gyeongsang National University of Korea (GNU) and Metal Forming Research Corporation (MFRC).

UiTM Vice-Chancellor, Emeritus Prof Datuk Ir Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim, who represented the varsity at the ceremony said the collaboration was seen as the best platform for it to conduct studies and research in the three fields which would indirectly benefit the country.

“As we all know, South Korea is more advanced in these three fields. So, we will share knowledge with GNU through student exchange programme, while MFRC will provide software for study and research purposes,” he told reporters after the signing ceremony here.

He said, through the collaboration, two members of its Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM) alumni had received full sponsorship for graduate studies at GNU.

Meanwhile MFRC contributed about 40 software worth RM3.3 million to be utilised by the FKM students.
