SHAH ALAM, 6 April – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) strengthens its position with the recognition of three (3) broad subject areas and fourteen subjects in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, which were released yesterday.
The 12th edition of QS World University Rankings by Subject was released based on four (4) main indicators, namely Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per paper and H-Index by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the world’s leading ratings body of international institutions of higher learning. The ranking this time involved 1,543 universities from 88 locations around the world in 51 subjects categorised into five (5) broad subject areas.
Hospitality and Leisure Management improved its ranking to 42nd in the world, up from 51- 100 the previous year. Petroleum Engineering and Architecture / Built Environment maintained their positions at 101-150 and 151-200 in the world, followed by two other subjects retaining their positions at 351-400 for Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and Information Systems at 501-550 respectively.
For this latest rating edition, three (3) new UiTM subjects were listed, namely Chemical Engineering, Agriculture and Forestry, and Law which also had the highest achievement for academic reputation with a score of 58.3.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor said UiTM’s improved results in the QS World University Rankings reflect the determination and strong support from the university management and community. She added that every effort and strategy is mobilised to ensure that the target to list 20 subjects and 2 Top 100 subjects in the QS World University Rankings by Subject as outlined in the UiTM 2025 strategic plan is met with success.
