UiTM Attains Its Highest Level of Achievement to Date in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject

10 April 2024 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is now listed for 18 subjects across four broad subject areas for the by Subject that was announced today. This marks the highest achievement in UiTM’s history following its jump from 13 subjects ranked across three broad subject areas last year. This year, 1,561 institutions are ranked across 55 specific and five broad subject areas.

Among the most notable achievements for UiTM this year is the Physics and Astronomy subject, ranked for the first time in the institution’s history at 551–600. On the other hand, Education ranks at 351–400 since its last recorded placement three years ago. Similarly, Chemistry again joined the ranks at 551–600 after it was last listed in 2021. Overall, this year, seven subjects, namely Art and Design, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Electrical Engineering, Business and Management Studies, Economics and Econometrics, Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Computer Science and Information Systems, improved their rankings.

Hospitality and Leisure Management maintains the highest position for UiTM, achieving a rank of 50–100 worldwide. At the same time, Petroleum Engineering remains in the Top 150 worldwide for the fourth year. Meanwhile, Art and Design made a massive leap to becoming one of the Top 200, compared to its position at the Top 240 last year. The other subjects ranked this year are Architecture/Built Environment, Accounting and Finance, Law, Chemical Engineering, Agriculture and Forestry, and Medicine.

For broad subject areas, with the inclusion of Life Sciences and Medicine for the first time, UiTM improved its position as it now ranks in four out of the five broad subject areas that were listed compared to three last year. Social Sciences and Management continues to be UiTM’s strongest field, maintaining its place at 361. Meanwhile, the institution’s rank for Engineering and Technology increased significantly, improving from 451–500 last year to 388 this year. Arts and Humanities also improved from 451–500 last year to 401–450 this year.
