Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise their partnership in various areas of academic cooperation.
The MoU signing ceremony was held through a virtual meeting on Friday, 11 September 2020. UiTM Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Dr Mohd Nazip Suratman represented the Vice-Chancellor Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim, while USIM’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin led his team at the ceremony.
The formal signing of the MOU paves the way for both institutions to work towards their shared goal of advancing research in common areas of interest in addition to initiating programmes which will benefit academics and students at both institutions.
At the ceremony, Professor Dr Mohd Nazip praised academics at USIM and UiTM’s Accounting Research Institute for having already begun work on a forthcoming publication titled “Islamic Ethics and Governance for Combatting Financial Crime”. USIM Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin expressed confidence that the MOU will lead to stronger ties between the two institutions.
Professor Dr Normah Omar, the Director of UiTM’s Accounting Research Institute which initiated the MoU between the two higher learning institutions, thanked the Vice Chancellors of both universities for their support in formalising the partnership.
