SUNGAI BULOH, 27 October 2023 – An esteemed delegation from the Orthodontic Department of Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, paid a special visit to the Faculty of Dentistry at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) on Friday, 27 October 2023.
The visiting delegation comprised of 33 orthodontic postgraduate students, accompanied by three lecturers: Associate Prof. Chairat, Associate Prof. Bancha, and Assistant Prof. Pannapat. Their visit to UiTM signified the strengthening of academic ties and the potential for ground-breaking collaborations in the field of orthodontics.
The visit began with a short tour of the UiTM Faculty of Dentistry, providing the delegates with an inside look into the private wing and Orthodontic postgraduate clinics. The facilities showcased the advanced infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology that UiTM employs, ensuring top-notch dental education and patient care. The PSU delegates were also shown some of the typical orthodontic cases our postgraduate students treat.
Following the tour, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr Aida Nur Ashikin Abd Rahman, introduced the institution, offering insights into its history, academic programs, and achievements. The introduction paved the way for a productive discussion centred on future research collaborations and a potential student exchange program between the two prominent universities. Such collaborations promise to enrich the academic experiences of students from both institutions and foster international understanding.
Also present during this significant event was the Orthodontic Program Director from UiTM, Dr Syed Bazli Syed Alwi, the faculty’s corporate communication team, represented by Dr Zatil Farihiah and Dr Mohd Amir Mukhsin and some of UiTM’s orthodontic postgraduate students. Their participation in the event underscored the importance of the visit and the mutual respect between the two esteemed educational institutions.
Both universities expressed enthusiasm for the possibilities the future holds, with the shared goal of advancing orthodontic education and research. This visit marks yet another step towards enhanced academic partnerships on a global scale, promising mutual benefits for both institutions and their students.
