MOU between FSKM, UiTM and SATHYABAMA Institute of Science And Technology, India

Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FSKM), Universiti Teknologi MARA, (UiTM) and Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology, Tamil Nadu, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, 4th March 2020 at Sathyabama Institute, India.

In conjunction with the MoU signing event, FSKM co-organized the International Conference on Mathematical Sciences (ICMS 2020) with Sathyabama, Institute of Science & Technology from 4th until 6th March 2020. The MOU was signed by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology, Dr. T.Sasipraba and the Dean of FSKM, UiTM, Prof. Ts. Dr. Haryani Haron during the opening ceremony of the conference. In her inaugural speech, Prof. Ts. Dr. Haryani Haron highlighted “how the establishment of international linkage is important to understand the needs of an uncertain fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0). She also expressed her wish to have an International Joint Conference, organized by FSKM, UiTM in collaboration with Sathyabama Institute in Malaysia”.

Under the MoU, UiTM and Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology will mutually collaborate in student exchange programmes to promote the development of joint studies, staff exchange programmes on joint research, exchange of facilities and resources, collaborative technology development programmes, joint publication, patents and copy rights as well as other educational programmes of mutual interest.

Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology was established in 1987 and granted ‘Deemed University’ status in 2001. The university has been awarded as Category “A” University by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, India (NAAC) with Grade “A” in the year 2017, and also certified with DNV-GL ISO 9001 standard. In 2016, Sathyabama Institute made history by launching “SATHYABAMASAT” in association with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). SATHYABAMASAT is a micro experimental satellite to collect data on greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, water vapour, hydrogen fluoride and methane. FSKM, UiTM plans to collaborate with Sathyabama in order to model data using big data analysis.
