PUTRAJAYA, 17th July 2023 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) recently organized a momentous award ceremony, Majlis Sanjung Sarjana. The ceremony honours researchers who have given stellar performance in advancing UiTM’s performance in research and innovation throughout the year 2022.
The ceremony was officiated by the Vice Chancellor of UiTM, YBhg Professor Datuk Dr Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor. Distinguished researchers and eminent scholars from various fields of research were gathered to celebrate research excellence and witness outstanding achievement and contributions of the recipients in pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics (KPPIM) showcased strong performance as the recipient of not only one award, but FIVE awards.
1. Highest National Grant Acquisition (S&T) 2022 with total grants amounting RM 1,490,400.70 (Second Runner-Up)
2. Highest Private Grant Acquisition (S&T) 2022 with total grants amounting RM 2,225,256.80 (Second Runner-Up)
3. Highest International Grant Acquisition (S&T) 2022 with total grants amounting RM 656,884.81 (Second Runner-Up)
4. Recognition of the Journal of Information and Knowledge Management (JIKM) for successfully being indexed in MyCite. The Chief Editor of JIKM is PM Dr Wan Satirah Wan Mohd Saman.
5. Recognition of the Malaysian Journal of Computing (MJoC) for being successfully indexed in MyCite. The Chief Editor of MJoC is Prof Ts Dr Hjh Anitawati Mohd Lokman.
KPPIM further demonstrates its remarkable performance through the Institute for Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (IBDAAI). IBDAAI is led by Prof Dr Jasni Mohamad Zain as Director where the institute was recognised with the following awards:
1. World’s Top 2% Scientist (Single Year Achievement): Prof Dr Yap Bee Wah
2. The Most Outstanding UiTM Center of Excellence (CoE) (CoE Tier 3)
3. Highest HiCoE/CoE UiTM Journal Publication (Corresponding Author) (1st Runner Up)
KPPIM strongly encourages a research-oriented ecosystem to drive advancements in the fields of computing, mathematics and information management where the researchers are innovative in addressing various global challenges. The awards won validates KPPIM’s efforts in pushing the boundaries of knowledge and serves as motivation to excel better further elevating UiTM’s status as a Globally Renowned University.
KPPIM’s performance in Majlis Sanjung Sarjana is a testament to SDG4: Quality Education and SDG9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. The achievements also reflects the aspiration of Malaysia Madani.
