Interior Architecture student’s won consolation prize worth RM500 at the Youth Street Art Festival

BUKIT BINTANG, 12 August 2023 – A group of five students from the Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Hons), College of Built Environment at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawanagan Selangor, Kampus Puncak Alam were awarded the consolation prize worth RM500 at the Youth Street Art Festival Dashing Bad Boyz #BreakFreeKL hosted by the Malaysian Youth Community (myc.my). Students Muhammad Syafiq Hazwan Bin Mohamad Jaafar, Muhammad Izhar Firdaus Bin Isa, Atiqah Binti Mohd Halim, Aqilah Binti Abu Kassim, and Barieah Raudhah Binti Yufardi Djamily from Semester 7 are now going through their practical training throughout this semester.

The competition was held at Lalaport Bukit Bintang City Centre Rooftop Lawn from 12pm – 6pm on Saturday with participation from esteemed universities youth artist teams including Malaysia Institute of Art (MIA). The event was also collaborating with Top Malaysia Graffiti Artists to create Memorable Street Art Moments – Live Art in Motion – worth the Talk of the Town. Instagrammable. Meaningful. “#BREAKFREE Youth Street Art Festival KL”. The event is Celebrating International Youth Day in conjunction with United Nations and aiming for a Malaysian Book of Records for the “Most Augmented Reality Scanned Art Festival in Malaysia.

Participants needed to complete the graffiti artwork on the board size 9ft (W) x 8ft (H) with #BreakFree – Communicate via Art to a New Generation of young Malaysians on International Youth Day Street art theme. Each university that participated received 15 cans of spray paint from the event’s organisers at gratis. Utilising spray paint to choreograph graffiti in public spaces in front of spectators is a magnificent and thrilling experience for the interior architecture students. Such programmes aim to provide youngsters an overview of the world outside the four walls of a classroom and help them discover their identity in it.
