In providing practical experiences for the tertiary university student, Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) through it’s IPRMSA chapters from several local and private universities participated in leadership programme for educating tertiary students with leadership and community services from 2nd September till 4th September 2022 at Khaba Land.
In the era of Internet digitalization and to produce a well-qualified labour market, leadership skills are crucial for youth for preparing them for the future industrial employability marketplace with an effective skill. Thus, a three-day programme at Khaba land, Kuala Kubu Bharu participated by five universities from Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Taylor University (TU) accompanied with their programme president, Prof Dr. Kiranjit Kaur from UiTM together with club advisor from other university such as Prof Jamilah, Marzura and Hamid Saifuddin.
These three (3) days programme benefitted students with few challenging activities through exposing them with nature for teaching them to express gratitude to mother nature and grateful to everyone to foster leadership skills while inculcating future-readiness and a sense of responsibility towards the society.
During the programme, participants were guided through a series of activities comprising elements of team building, student leadership lectures, innovation competition, and learning points for self-exploration and leadership development.
Students were able to benefit personally and professionally by acquiring values, skills and knowledge to help them achieve their potential on their leadership journey. According to the participants, they would like to participate more in future for the same training due to practical experiences gained from programme.
Club advisor and IPRMSA chapter president, Prof Dr. Kiran said she was amused with the commitment and engagement given by participants throughout the three days programme. In addition, this programme is crucial for public relations students for teaching and guiding them on improving their self-motivation and learn to build network with students from other university said Hamid Saifuddin, club advisor from Faculty of Communication and Media Studies Shah Alam campus.
