UiTM and UK Universities empowering women through Partnership for Innovation in Employability (PIE) Programme

Partnership for Innovation in Employability (PIE) Programme is an initiative funded by British Council and UK-Malaysia partners allows partners to establish links with one another which it will enable through funding for short term industrial and academic opportunities, and real-field projects deliveries aimed at developing new cross-disciplinary relationships (healthcare, computer science, engineering, ethics, business and design), encouraging the development of strategically beneficial collaborative projects in a supportive environment for women in STEM.

PIE is about a broader set of skill and attribute developments that will enable both women graduates and academic staff to be successful throughout their working life.

Recently, UiTM researchers have secured this funding which led by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Rozita Jailani from College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia Lead) and Dr Esyin Chew from Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom (UK Lead). Other 7 associate partners includes Oxford Robotics Institute United Kingdom, Binus University Indonesia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Alty Orthopaedic Hospital and Al-Sultan Abdullah Hospital.

Through the PIE II programme, a tangible catalyst would be provided by sharing interdisciplinary research knowledge and exchanging best practices among 9 partners with high-quality PhD placements, student and staff mobility and transnational education and upskilling a broader set of multidisciplinary knowledge and global attribute developments that will enable both women graduates and female staff to be successful throughout their working life.

With the amount of RM 246,124.00 for a period between october 2022- December 2024, the research team aims at improving research and learning experience among target groups through a science, technology, engineering, arts, maths and health (STEAM-H) based multidisciplinary approach. It also aims at supporting B40 students, female academic and healthcare staff through robotics seminars, micro-credential AI courses and dual-PhD for enhancing employability and future work skills in industrialisation 4.0.

Kudos UiTM team for this achievement!
