FBM, UiTM Receives Malaysia’s Finance Accreditation

The Department of Economic and Finance Studies (DoEFS), Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia is very proud to announce that its four academic programs Economics, Finance, Insurance and Islamic Banking have been accredited by the Malaysia’s Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA). The four programs are:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Business Economics
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Finance
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Insurance
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Islamic Banking

The FAA accreditation recognizes that the design, development and delivery of the learning in the  four academic programs successfully met the rigorous standard of FAA Learning Requirements and are in compliance with the FAA Quality Framework for accredited academic programs in Malaysia. This accreditation accentuates the significance of the programs to the financial market and the service industry. With this accreditation, we can aspire to satisfy the national aspiration of producing qualified graduates to fulfil the increasing demand of experts in the financial sector, both locally and globally. The application process which started as early as February 2018 finally received its official conferment in May 20th, 2020. The undivided commitment by the program committees from DoEFS as well as the strong support and trust given by the former dean of the FBM,  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Halijjah Shariff have made this accreditation, a pleasant reality and a great achievement to DoEFS.

This accreditation, which was approved succeeding comprehensive quality assessment and assurance procedures based on FAA’s globally-benchmarked criteria for learning program structure and syllabus, is seen as a feasible platform for our department and faculty to upsurge marketability of our graduates in the local and international job market. “Thousands of qualified professionals in the area of economics, insurance and finance; both conventional and Islamic have developed their professional knowledge and skills with curriculum in our four academic programs and we are committed to continuously offer support to the financial market and community in Malaysia”.

The four academic programs in DoEFS are exclusively designed to meet the nation’s objective on the preparation of qualified talents for the economics and finance industry. The new curriculum of the four programs reflects business analytics and digital inclusion in the global financial landscape with the emphasis towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), number four on educational quality in order to produce graduates with contemporary industrial qualities with high humanity conscience. This accreditation will increase the DoEFS graduates’ competitive edge in the employment market.
