On 18 and 19 June 2023, UiTM had organized a nationwide expo call “Ekspo Selangkah ke UiTM” (ESKU) to encourage and promote UiTM to SPM graduates. While the SPM graduates had opportunity to gain insight into the courses offered by UiTM, the lecturers awere given a platform to give back to community.

My experience as a volunteer lecturer in UiTM Perak during ESKU 2023 humbled me with parents’ eagerness to help their children to have a better future through higher education. The majority of the visitors to ESKU in UiTM Perak were parents with concerns about their children’s journey to higher education.

The expression of gratitude from parents and SPM graduates for the guidance is a blessing to all academicians. ESKU also provide exposure to the “Pra Pengajian Tinggi” (PPT) program which is less known to SPM graduates. The ability to assure parents and SPM graduates that there are different alternatives to join UiTM through the PPT program is another way for lecturers to give back to the community. Additionally, ESKU becomes a promotion platform for old SPM graduates who regret not furthering their higher education earlier and wish to pursue their studies at UiTM through the PPT program.
