Pursuing Internationalisation of Academia Through Honourable Visit Mobility Program

UiTM Global, Office of Academic Affairs and Civil Engineering Studies, Universiti Teknologi Mara Cawangan Pahang (UCPh) successfully organised an Honourable Visit Mobility Program with one of Philippines’s prestigious institute, Institute of Industry and Academic Research Incorporated, Philippines (IIARI) in an effort to pursue the internationalisation of education, research and consultation programmes.

The mobility program was a result of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UiTM and IIARI that was signed by the Rector of UCPh, Prof. Dr. Mohd Ilham Bin Adenan in April 2023. Initiator of the MoU, Ts Dr. Duratul Ain Tholibon acting as Program Director had outlined several objectives that have been achieved through this program involves to achieve MyRA 2024 under section G: Network & Link Links; conducting several activities based on academic development; To promote UCPh activities for future joint ventures; to build up a network and promote a chain of relationships with international institutions and creating opportunities for future collaboration discussions such as a shared or matching-research grant, holding joint-conferences and other activities.

The delegations led by Dr. Rodrigo M. Velasco were attended by five organisations that are Institute of Industry and Academic Research Inc.; Santo Tomas College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Technology; Balian Community College; Aklan State University; and Northwestern Visayan Colleges. The program saw 17 fellows and members of delegations spending four days from the 21st until the 24th of June 2023 engaging in intellectual discourse with lecturers, students, and industrial agency FGV Agri Services Sdn. Bhd. They were also introduced to a community of Felda and were immersed in the local culture. In the program, delegations were given a glimpse of Malaysian culture and the opportunity to visit the night market and explore the beauty of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya City.

 

The mobility program has met the five performance indicators of PI081: Number of new MoU/ MoA with international universities; PI084: Number of international programs/activities for active MoU/ MoA for the current year; PI072: Number of new MoU and MoA with International Industries; PI074: Number of activities under MoA/MoU with International Industries and PI075: Number of University Social Responsibility programs (USR).

The Rector of UCPh, Prof. Dr. Mohd Ilham Bin Adenan said he was proud of the success of the program and hoped there will be a strategic collaboration between UCPh and strategic partners in the Philippines. He also hoped that this project will be sustained, especially in driving Malaysia towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) namely, SDG 17: which focuses on partnerships for the goals.
