EDU Scholar Webinar Series with Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah Alias on Minimalist Approach to Open Distance Learning

The second session of EDU Scholar Webinar Series kicks off with another speaker, featuring none other than Prof. Dr. Hajah Nor Aziah Haji Alias, an esteemed professor at the Faculty of Education.  Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah, who is also the Director of Academic Development, Academic Affairs Division, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM); provided practical tips in light of the current educational needs in using technological platforms as a major part of pedagogical activities.

Addressing more than 1,300 participants who either live streamed the session or via Google Meet; Prof. Dr. Nor Aziah delivered her talk on ‘Embracing Technology in Open Distance Learning (ODL): A Minimalist Approach to Designing Meaningful Learning Experience’. Four key points were addressed: where are we concerning the use of ODL; ODL and minimalism; designing ODL experience; and technological minimalism. The session was closed after a meaningful Question and Answer Session where the participants shared and forwarded questions related to their ODL practices and course assessments, as well as concerns and challenges they had experienced in the implementation of their ODL.

The EDU Scholar Webinar Series is co-organized by the Research and Innovation Division (RID), UiTM Selangor Branch, and the Faculty of Education. The series feature five professors from the Faculty of Education over the course of four months from April until early July 2020.  Given the different mix of expertise and experience of these professors, the series feature topics that are wide-ranging and critical from research and publications to pedagogical strategies and techniques aimed at enhancing UiTM’s educators’ mindset, approaches, and outputs from various facets of their professional engagements.
