Shah Alam, 14 November 2023 – The closing and awarding ceremony for Modern Language Olympiad (MLO) 2.0 2023 was officiated by YB Dr. Mohammad Fahmi bin Ngah, Exco of Selangor State Islamic Religion and Innovation Culture on the 10th November 2023 at Melati Platinum Hall, Melati College UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor. In attendance, YBhg. Profesor Datuk Dr. Shahrin bin Sahib @ Sahibuddin, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA. This event was organized by the Student Affairs Division and the Academy of Language Studies (APB) of UiTM Shah Alam in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) Malaysia.
The dinner ceremony was accompanied by performances all throughout the night with dance performance from GemalaiQarmaDansa (GQD) dance team and singing performances from NurQairulnisa Najwa from College of Engineering Studies with her song ‘Nazam Berkasih’ and Jepx @ Xavier Austin Hong with his song ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ and ‘Lemak Manis’ accompanied by GemalaiQarmaDansa (GQD) team. Moreover, there were four awards categories handed out that night which were impromptu speech, news casting, radio drama and strategic storytelling. Prizes for all Malay language category competitions were sponsored by Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka. UiTM would like to congratulate all the winners for their dedication and hard work during the competition.
Since this program is a platform for the exchange of knowledge, culture and language among domestic and foreign students, especially in Malay, English and Arabic, it is hoped that it can peak students’ interest in learning different languages. Presently, Academy of Language Studies (APB) UiTM Shah Alam offers 9 different language courses which are Malay, English, Arabic, Mandarin, French, Italian, German, Japanese and Korean for students to elevate and cultivate their language skills. With the success and massive turnout for Modern Language Olympiad (MLO) 2.0, it is hoped that this will strengthen the relationship between UiTM and various domestic and international institutions that have participated in this event.
