Award Winning Course to Help with Fine Dining Fear

Formal dining is notorious with the presumption of it being protocol-stricten through and through. Although there’s a truth in that, it is also not impossible for people to get the hang of it. This is even more so if they get the right help going around the topic.

Good news is UiTM now owns a module to help with this subject. UMC010 is a Micro Credentials course aptly named “Formal Dining: The Informal Guide to Formal Dining Know-How”, was designed to help people from all walks of life to understand the idea of formal dining in a contemporary and approachable method of delivery. The content developers are a line up of lecturers from UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang and UiTM Cawangan Puncak Alam. Lead by Nadia Liana Mohd Karim, the team is a dynamic cooperation between Norliana Hashim and Wan Hayati Wan Bujang from the Department of Foodservice Management, with Dr. Norhamizan Hamir and Zamri Ahmad, both are renowned national level F&B instructors, from the Department of Hotel Management. The development of this course is a proof and also a hope that the Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management is able to keep up with the current trend of content creation.

The success of this course has witnessed several recognitions from various levels. It was awarded for Academic Achievement Award: Academic Affairs Category by the Centre of Studies for Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management, UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang. The content quality of the course was also recognized as the best by the campus itself, UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, with the Best E-Learning Award. As the cherry of top, UMC010 also received an accolade from the university for being The Most Active Micro Credentials Award: Social Science Category, as the ceremony was graced by the UiTM Vice Chancellor, Yang Berbahagia Profesor Datuk Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor.

The developer team hopes to create more content to help people to be knowledgeable about F&B topic and more importantly to overcome the fear of learning about it.
