ALS630 Lingua Vista Displays Students’ Academic Ingenuity

On the 24th of January 2024,  the dynamic Semester 5 students from the English for Professional Communication programme (LG240), Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) unleashed their brilliance in a poster exhibition for their Advanced Reading subject (ALS630). The event took place at the Galeri Seni Tuanku Nur Zahirah (UiTM GESTURZ), officiated by Dr Siti Aeisha Joharry, the Coordinator for LG240, representing the Head of Programme, Datin Dr Aini Faridah Azizul Hassan.

The prodigious students transformed their reviews of Applied Linguistics into a kaleidoscope of creative and vibrant infographic posters, making it more than just a final evaluation for an academic course. In total, 36 groups presented in the morning and evening sessions, all buzzing with infectious enthusiasm and excitement. These students didn’t just show up; they conquered the ‘stage’, having meticulously prepared for this event.

Led by Dr Muhammad Radzi Manap, the Resource Person for ALS630 and Advisor for the event, five class lecturers and ten invited judges from APB – experts in the field of language and linguistics – graced the occasion, adding an extra layer of intensity to the competition.

The ALS630 Poster Exhibition is held every semester with the aim of introducing students to academic presentations and conferences that are an important part of academia and fostering interest and honing talent in academic presentations.

At the end of the day, 7 prizes were given out: A Best Poster Presentation award for each class, the Best Overall Presenter award which went to Ms Umairah Safiah Noor Azmi, and the Best Overall Poster which went to a group from Class 5E with a poster titled

‘Linguistics Resilience: Nurturing Language Skills for Refugees’

Congratulations to all students, and especially to the wonderful committee led by Ms Irdina Sofiya Mohamed Saifuddin and Ms Nurfatimah Najwa  Mohd Ghouse, who worked hard to put things together and successfully carried out the event without a hitch.
