Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) was honoured to be the host for a distinguished academic conference collaborated with The Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) on 8th May 2023 at Double Tree Hotel, Shah Alam. The Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) was selected to represent UiTM in organizing this fruitful conference with the theme of “Learned Values-Driven Talent: Towards Quality Education”.
Distinguished guests who attended the event were Professor Dr. Bai Choong En, AAPBS President and the Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, Professor Datuk Ts, Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of UiTM, and Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah, the Dean of FBM, together with about 40 heads and deans from business schools in Asia-Pacific universities.
This conference has been officiated by our VC, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor.. She highlighted that by holding this conference, both parties will be able to learn from one another and develop stronger networks among business schools devoted to offering quality education that creates positive changes. Additionally, this conference was seen to be the perfect platform for exchanging ideas, to discover the best practices and innovative approaches to prepare our stakeholders for the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. Furthermore, it might generate an ecosystem that supports entrepreneurship, innovation, and social responsibility, all of which are linked with and described in UiTM’s 2025 strategic goals, which focus on national and worldwide trends, as well as university policies and planning.
Moreover, both the conference keynote speaker and forum sessions focused on universities’ social, economic, and environmental challenges due to globalisation and technological advancement. The conference was aimed to build connections between academicians and industrial experts internationally, enabling them to share their experiences on how to deal with challenges.
The AAPBS conference was successfully completed with fully-fledged support from panels such as Dato’ Sri Dr. Hj Irmohizam Ibrahim, the Group Managing Director of the World Trade Centre, as well as other prominent industries in various fields. The panel discussion was one of the three held throughout the conference and provided valuable insights into the challenges faced by businesses in a rapidly changing global environment.
Having industry experts contributing their insights and ideas throughout this International Conference on Quality Education has strengthened AAPBS’s commitment to advancing the quality of business and management education in the Asia-Pacific region.
