UiTMCPP and UNY Strengthen International Collaboration Through STEM Education

Kedah, 11 June 2025 – A significant international collaboration unfolded under the banner of the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) titled “TechnoBridge Arduino 2025”, hosted at SMK Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin (SMK SAT), Kedah. The full-day initiative, held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., brought together Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pulau Pinang (UiTMCPP) and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Indonesia, in a joint mission to advance cross-border academic partnership and foster STEM education among Malaysian school students.

Representing UNY were four distinguished academic figures:

  • Prof. Dr. phil. Nurhening Yuniarti, M.T., Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering Education
  • Deny Budi Hertanto, M.Kom, Secretary of the Department
  • Dr. Sukir, M.T., Head of the Master’s Programme
  • Hasan Zidni, M.T., Lecturer in the Undergraduate Programme

From UiTMCPP, the programme was spearheaded by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Nor Azlan Othman and Dr. Rozan Boudville, supported by ten dedicated student facilitators from the UiTMCPP Robotics Club, who actively guided participants throughout the day.

A key highlight was UNY’s donation of ten Arduino starter kits to SMK SAT, each valued at RM150. This gesture underscored UNY’s commitment to educational equity and cross-regional cooperation, significantly enriching the school’s capacity to deliver hands-on STEM learning.

Interactive sessions in Arduino programming, circuit construction, and problem-solving were conducted using a structured mentoring approach, fostering direct engagement between UiTMCPP mentors and secondary school participants. The initiative equipped students with foundational competencies in microcontroller applications and digital technologies.

This KTP engagement not only empowered school participants with essential technical skills but also facilitated meaningful institutional networking among UiTMCPP, UNY, and SMK SAT. The success of TechnoBridge Arduino 2025 reflects a scalable model for future collaborations focused on educational innovation, international knowledge-sharing, and youth STEM empowerment.

UiTMCPP remains steadfast in its pursuit of impactful academic outreach that bridges education and community, while UNY’s active involvement reaffirms the power of global partnerships in shaping the next generation of innovators.
