Faculty of Education’s ViCEW2023: A Triumph in Cultivating Global Cultural Understanding

Universiti Teknologi MARA’s (UiTM) Faculty of Education proudly concludes its Virtual International Cultural Exchange Week 2023 (ViCEW2023), hailed as an exceptional success story in cross-cultural learning and dialogue. This week-long virtual event, held from August 28th to September 1st, brought together participants from the Philippines, Malaysia, India, and Indonesia for an enriching cultural exchange.

ViCEW2023, a brainchild of UiTM’s Faculty of Education, had a noble mission: to provide a nurturing platform for participants to explore and appreciate the intricacies of each other’s cultures while honing their English language skills. In a world that often faces cultural and language barriers, ViCEW2023 set out to break these barriers, fostering open discussions about the participating nations’ traditions and values.

With a vibrant turnout of 35 to 45 participants from India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia, ViCEW2023 showcased the strength in diversity. Over the course of the program, participants engaged in lively exchanges about their native languages, tantalizing cuisines, traditional attire, historical legacies, and iconic national landmarks.

ViCEW2023 was a testament to the power of education and cultural exchange, where young minds converged to celebrate diversity and challenge stereotypes. Beyond the rich cultural exchanges, it was a heartwarming display of unity and solidarity among global youth.

Key strategic partners, including St. Christopher’s College of Education in India, the University of Immaculate Conception in the Philippines, and Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in Indonesia, added immense value to the event. Their collaboration underscored the significance of international cooperation in promoting global understanding.

As ViCEW2023 draws to a close, the event leaves behind an indelible legacy of friendship, understanding, and unity. It was a resounding success in proving that education, dialogue, and cultural exchange can bridge divides and bring the world closer together.
