PUNCAK ALAM, 10 NOVEMBER 2022 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) officially inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with ICDL Asia officiating the Accredited Test Centre (ATC) and He & She Coffee on 10th November 2022. A brief signing ceremony was held at He & She Coffee Café, Plaza Satelit B, UiTM Kampus Puncak Alam with UiTM represented by Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University, Miss Tina Wu, the General Manager of ICDL Asia based in Singapore, and Encik Zulkiflee Yusuf, the Founder of He & She Sdn. Bhd. Both the MoA signing ceremony was witnessed by Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah, the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM).
As for He and She Coffee, the signing today marks a new chapter between both parties as this collaboration is unique as it strengthens the knowledge particularly on retail management and education in general. The Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) UiTM currently offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) (Hons) in Retail Management curriculum to meet the growing need for retail management expertise in Malaysia and around the world.
UiTM is the first institution in Malaysia to provide a degree in retail management with honours. Specialization courses are related to concepts & practice of retailing, understanding shoppers, retail supply chain management, retail merchandising, retail operations & technology, retail financial decision making, retail entrepreneurship, visual merchandising and customer service management. Students will learn about retail management and operations as well as development of theory in retailing. FBM works closely with several renowned retailers and retail experts in providing basic as well as in-depth knowledge on retail operations.
As a result, it is notable that the practice and training with He & She Coffee will enhance the marketability of UiTM graduates who can fulfil the needs of the retail industry. Thus, the establishment of this cooperation is timely because it provides the platform that allows the students to experience the simulations of becoming retail experts both in theory and practical. With this initiative, students from other faculties in UiTM will also benefit and give them the exposure on retailing. Thus, the MoA will serve as a platform to exploring new ways to expand this cooperative endeavour and spirit with He & She Coffee to form a strong alliance for the benefit of UiTM.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, she is confident that the collaboration between UiTM with ICDL Asia and He & She Coffee would greatly assist the public institution achieve its objective to become a Globally Famous University (GRU) at the world stage. “Today’s MoA signing would officially make UiTM an ICDL Accredited Test Centre (ATC) to deliver ICDL Certification Programmes in accordance with ICDL Foundation’s approval, accreditation and quality assurance frameworks and standards. In addition, being an ICDL centre for accredited tests will also allow students and even the staff to develop digital skills and self-development while becoming more globally competent for greater marketability.”
“UiTM also believes that He & She Coffee will play a big role to help increase these skills by guiding our students, especially those in the Retail Management programme to learn by immersing in an authentic business environment and enhancing related and necessary skills,” she explained.
