SUNGAI BULOH – Two UiTM dental students, Mohamad Luqman Hakim Mohamad Rasidi and Nur Aisya Syaheera Rohizan became the champions of National Dental Students’ Scientific Conference (NDSCC) 2020 Special Edition.

Their research entitled “Antibacterial Activity of Endophytic Streptomyces spp. Isolated from Medicinal Plant of Dental Importance” was supervised by two microbiologists, Dr. Nurul ‘Izzah Mohd Sarmin and Dr. Hasnah Begum Said Gulam Khan.

“Our research showcases the uniqueness of endophytes isolated from medicinal plants as natural source for drug candidate”, said Dr. ‘Izzah.

Another dental student, Ain Ashraf Rizwal, supervised by a forensic odontologist, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Yusmiaidil Putera Mohd Yusof also received the Best Presenter Award at the conference.

With the theme “Embracing New Dental Era”, this annual conference was hosted by Malaysian Dental Students’ Association through an online platform to exchange ideas and knowledge on dental care and oral health among dental students in Malaysia.

The whole faculty congratulated the students and supervisors for this huge accomplishment.
