UiTM Puncak Alam Students Shine at National Housekeeping Competition

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 September 2025 – Students from the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management (FPHP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor Branch, Puncak Alam Campus, delivered stellar performances at the Housekeeping Competition 2025, organized by the Malaysian Association of Housekeepers (MAHIR) in collaboration with Food and Hospitality Malaysia (FHM). The event, held from 23 to 26 September 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, marked the second edition of the competition and attracted participants from higher education institutions and the hospitality industry nationwide.

UiTM fielded six Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management students, competing across three categories: Bedmaking (Junior), Towel Art, and Occasion Decoration. In the Bedmaking (Junior) category, Muhammad Khairul Aiman Bin Abdullah and Abdul Latiff Bin Abd Rahman secured second and third places, respectively, outperforming 17 other participants. Both students completed the challenge in under eight minutes, showcasing speed and precision.

In the Towel Art category, Aniq Ihtisyam Bin Mohd Saupi impressed judges with his creative execution, competing against seasoned industry professionals. Meanwhile, the team HotCat Sparkle—comprising Puteri Syafieqah Binti Khairul Anhar Holder, Nur Alyaa Binti Yuselman, and Nurul Syaqila Binti Zamri—clinched second place in the Occasion Decoration category. Their presentation, themed “Serene Beauty of Malaysia”, earned them a medal and a cash prize of RM800.

The biennial Housekeeping Competition serves as a prestigious platform for students and professionals to demonstrate excellence in hospitality, particularly in the housekeeping domain. Under the mentorship of Dr Nurfatihah Mazlan, Puan Suriati Osman, and Dr Nur Zalikha Othman, and with full support from FPHP management, UiTM students proved that their skills and creativity are on par with industry standards.
