MELAKA, 10th June 2023 – A group of 5 School of Mechanical Engineering students from College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), in collaboration with Tai Pelangi and JC Motorsport, successfully organized a “Skills Workshop on Motorcycle Maintenance” in Melaka. The program, attended by 26 locals, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining motorcycles and provided participants with practical skills for their daily upkeep.

The one-day program, conducted in collaboration with Tai Motor Trading and JC Motorsport, featured demonstrations on motorcycle maintenance. The workshop showcased tire replacement techniques, emphasizing the significance of proper tire condition. Additionally, participants were educated on changing motor oil and maintaining a well-functioning motorbike chain.

This initiative by UiTM students aligns with the Higher Education Ministry’s “Program Service-Learning Malaysia – University for Society” (SULAM), encouraging students to interact with the community and share their knowledge acquired at the university with the local population. The participants’ feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their enjoyment and increased interest in the field.

The workshop was held at Tai Pelangi Motor Trading, located at Jalan 1, Taman Sri Pelangi, 78000 Alor Gajah, Melaka. It falls under the Mechanical Engineering curriculum, demonstrating the university’s commitment to community engagement and service.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, fostering a sense of collaboration and knowledge-sharing between students and residents alike. The “Skills Workshop on Motorcycle Maintenance” proved to be an impactful initiative, equipping participants with practical skills and promoting a culture of responsible motorcycle maintenance.
