The Do-Good Challenge Programme
This first season of the Do-Good Challenge Programme spanned 30 Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) campuses and saw impressive participation of over 7,000 entries from students to apply their knowledge to real-life situations and make a positive impact on their communities.
In his remarks, Mr Lum Chong Heng, Commercial Director of City Chemo Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, noted the significance of the programme. “This collaboration with UiTM has been pivotal to help Good Virtues Co. directly engage with and inspire our young users as well as inspire them to do good,” said Mr Lum Chong Heng. He also stated, “We are honoured to be the first brand to successfully assimilate into UiTM’s SULAM programme which is also approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. The overwhelming response we received was a clear testament to the power of the Do-Good Challenge in reaching and connecting with our consumers and future business leaders that truly embody our brand message that there is more to beauty than what the world sees on the outside”.
In its first year, the Do-Good Challenge invites UiTM students to present innovative ideas addressing four critical areas of Community Engagement: education, health, humanitarianism, and the environment.
The Do-Good Challenge served as a powerful reminder that students possess the potential to effect change and create innovative solutions that positively impact society. “Knowledge is not only learned in the classroom but how you bring it to the community itself,” said Professor Dr Mohamad Hariri Hj. Abdullah, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor from the Office of Industry, Community and Alumni Network (ICAN), UiTM Shah Alam highlighted the importance of learning beyond traditional education.
Do-Good Challenge is returning for its second season
The success of the Do-Good Challenge has paved the way for an ongoing partnership between Good Virtues Co. and UiTM. The collaboration between these two organisations will continue with the program’s second season, set to begin in October 2023. Excitingly, the second season will expand its reach to East Malaysia campuses. This will ensure broader and more inclusive participation from UiTM students nationwide.
The Do-Good Challenge has proven to be an effective catalyst for youth engagement in social change and community development. With the remarkable display of talent and dedication witnessed during the first season, the future holds significant promise for UiTM students’ impact in their communities, as they continue to embrace the program’s ethos of creating positive change for society’s betterment.
