UiTM Welcomes UMS for Benchmarking Visit and Fostering Future Collaboration

SHAH ALAM, 10th July 2023 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam is honoured to welcome Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) for a benchmarking visit. Hosted by the College of Computing, Informatics, and Mathematics (KPPIM), the purpose of the visit is to benchmark the implementation of double degree programs and MBOT accreditation.

UMS was represented by the delegates from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, International Campus Labuan, Sabah which include Assoc. Prof. Ts Dr Mohd Hanafi Ahmad Hijazi (Dean), Prof. Ir. Ts Dr Zainal Zakaria (Director Center for Quality Assurance, UMS), Dr Suraya Alias (Head Program Software Engineering), Dr Wan Nooraishya (Head Program Multimedia Technology), Dr Norazlina Khamis (Chief Taskforce Double Degree/Joint Degree), Pn Hadzariah Ismail (Chief Taskforce Cybersecurity Programme) and Encik Mohd Fadzli Sarudi (Assistant Registrar).

KPPIM gladfully received the UMS delegates on behalf of UiTM, led by Prof. Ts Dr Haryani Haron, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for KPPIM. KPPIM is also represented by Prof. Ts Dr Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Mohd Isa (Dean Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohamad Norman Masrek (Dean Research and Innovation), Dr Muhamad Khairulnizam Zaini (Dean Industry, Community and Alumni Network), Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohamad Yusof Darus (Head of Computing Sciences School), Assoc. Prof. Dr Ahmad Zia ul-Saufie (Head of Mathematical Sciences School) Assoc. Prof. Dr Norjansalika Janom (Head of Postgraduate Studies), Dr Aida Yuzi Yusof and Dr Normi Abdul Hadi (PIC Double Degree Programs), and Dr Azimah Khalid (Liaison Officer Mobility Programmes).

The delegates had the opportunity to discuss the processes and procedures of double degree programs, accreditation as well as mobility endeavours. Seizing the opportunity of the meet-up, both institutions also explored potential collaboration in the areas of computing technologies. The benchmarking visit concluded with a visit to KPPIM’s various labs, research centres, and facilities. The delegates were briefed on the supporting technologies of each lab and research center, as well as the innovations that have stemmed from them.

University benchmarking visits enable academic institutions to enhance the quality of education and foster partnerships strategically aligning with SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals. It also aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth as the discovery of best practices can connect with industries and market demands. The objectives of the visit also holistically align with the government’s aspiration of Malaysia Madani.
