On the 9th of February, 2020, Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) sent five of their students to participate in the 2020 Asian English Olympics in BINUS University, South Jakarta, Indonesia. With the theme of the event, “Manifest Your Dreams”, our students strove to manifest their dreams in competing on the international pane.
APB sent four students from LG240 Norfadhlan Adli bin Norkhairi, Nur Diana Adlin bt Zainuddin, Amelia Maisarah binti Ahmad Fairuz and Amaal Fatihah bt Mohamed and one student from LG243, Nur Asyifa Azani bt Azmi. Norfadhlan and Nur Asyifa competed in the Speech category, Amelia in Storytelling while Amaal and Nur Diana in Newscasting.
Under the guidance and coaching of Maisarah Ahmad Kamil and Zachariah Aidin Druckman, our students competed with students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam and the Philippines and we managed to rank impressively thus providing legit competition.
There were a total 53 contestants for Speech, 45 contestants for Storytelling and 35 contestants for Newscasting. With that in mind, Norfadhlan won 4th place while Nur Asyifa won 27th for Speech, Amelia won 5th for Storytelling and Nur Diana and Amaal won 17th and 23rd respectively for Newscasting. In addition, Norfadhlan also won the award “Best Humourous Speech” during the Semi-Finals.
We look forward for a better performance in the 2021 Asian English Olympics.
