UiTM Strengthens International Collaboration With City University College of Ajman (CUCA)

AJMAN, UAE 16 MAY 2022 – Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) establishes new relationship with City University College of Ajman (CUCA) as part of a working visit to universities in the middle east (UAE) based on the 3 Degree of Separation Concept to enhance UiTM’s international networking collaborations.

This working visit is led by Professor Datuk Ts. Dr Roziah Mohd Janor, ViceChancellor of UiTM, accompanied by Professor Dr Haryani Haron, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics, Associate Professor Dr Amirul Afif Muhamat, Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation, Faculty of Business and Management, and Ts. Dr Hayati Abd. Rahman, Director of Strategic Communications Division, Communications Department. The UiTM delegation was greeted by Imran Khan President of CUCA ,along with Salma Senaran, Director of Student Recruitment, Anas Al-Kassab, Student and International Recruitment Officer and Saadiah, Human Resources and Administration Officer.

CUCA is a private university established in 2011 and accredited by UAE’s Ministry of Education Higher Education Affairs that provides high quality and modern academic programmes befitting local requirements and the needs of the international job market. In addition to the 118 programmes offered in line with the American education system model, CUCA also earned 5-star ratings in QS Excellence for online learning.

This working visit is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding between the two universities formed at the Dubai Expo 2020 back in December 2021. To step up collaborations and visibility, five (5) emphasis were discussed, namely research and innovation projects with involvement of researchers from other partner universities. international student exchanges, webinars/conferences, programmes and other initiatives.

Having more technology-related programmes like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security and Data Analysis can assist the university to produce students who are insnyc with industry and global needs and demands. This collaboration is further strengthened with the establishment of the Career Advancement Centre which offers short courses, as well as industry certifications such as from Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, SAS, EC Council and Huawei. The appointment of adjunct professors will also help the university to constantly improve learning and research.

The Vice-Chancellor said “Besides promoting UiTM to middle eastern countries, emulating best practices and governance strategies ensures that universities remain relevant and gain world recognition.”
