KUALA LUMPUR, 3rd September 2023 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) consistently leads its commitment to inclusivity, especially for individuals with disabilities. Its unwavering dedication to facilitate those in need through the provision of high-quality education fosters a prosperous Malaysian society. The National Autism Resource Centre (NARC) of College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics (KPPIM), UiTM realizes this commitment by providing a one-stop knowledge repository and reference resources for research, services, training and curriculum development, consultancy and projects related to Person with Autism (PWA) in Malaysia since 2019.
September third of 2023, marks a significant milestone on the endeavours put forth by NARC UiTM as UiTM was awarded an Honorary Membership by NASOM during NASOM Appreciation Dinner at The Westin, Kuala Lumpur. This prestigious honour acknowledges the significant contribution of NARC in supporting the autism community in Malaysia. The award was received by Professor Dr Nursuriati Jamil, Chair of NARC representing the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, Professor Datuk Dr Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor.
Moving forward, NARC is initiating the setup for the National Autism Training Campus providing job coaching for autistic individuals aged 14 and above as well as providing training for independent skills. NARC initiatives and objectives are in line with SDG4: Quality Education, SDG8: Decent Work and Economic Growth as well as SDG 10: Reduced Inequality as the centre consistently seek avenues to assist autism community in providing education, training and health facilities to promote independence and wellbeing.
