Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has entered a formal partnership with the North-West Institute of Management (NWIM) in Saint Petersburg, Russia as part of its global partnership expansion plan. The North-West Institute of Management is part of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).
The MoU signing ceremony was held through a virtual meeting on Tuesday, 25 August 2020. At the meeting, UiTM Vice-Chancellor, Emeritus Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim and his Russian counterpart, Professor Dr Olga Kazanskaya, expressed hope that both institutions will collaborate in areas of mutual interest. Among others, the MOU now makes it possible for the higher learning institutions to initiate exchange programmes involving both academics and students, collaborate in research activities, and organise events which promote knowledge-sharing.
NWIM offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in political science, international relations, public administration, law, economics and humanities. The institute also serves as a training centre for government administration and provides consulting services to the Russian private sector.
Professor Dr Normah Omar, Director of UiTM’s Accounting Research Institute which initiated the MoU between the two higher learning institutions, thanked the Vice Chancellors for their full support in realising the partnership. She expressed confidence that the institutions will pursue cross-border collaboration which will benefit both the academic as well as the wider community in Malaysia and Russia.
