UiTM, CelcomDigi and Perbadanan Putrajaya Unite to Inspire Future STEM Innovators

In today’s rapidly changing world, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education has become more crucial than ever. The demand for STEM-related jobs is rapidly increasing, and it is crucial that children are provided with a solid foundation in these subjects from a young age.

The first program for the year 2023, CelcomDigi Youth Influencer Program (CYDIP), is a collaboration between UiTM representing the higher learning institutions (HLIs), CelcomDigi representing the industry, and Perbadanan Putrajaya representing the city local government. It was held on February 21 and 22, 2023, at Putrajaya Open Innovation Centre (POINT), Kompleks Kejiranan Precinct 16, Putrajaya.

Four (4) lecturers from the College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) introduced two learning modules to the students, robotics and drones. This program provides students with engaging opportunities to learn about STEM through these attractive modules.

The representative of CelcomDigi’s Sustainability Department, Encik Areehan Hj. Abdullah and Puan Allina Ayof also attended the program.

A positive response was received from students regarding this program. 40 students from the ages of 7 to 17 from Putrajaya spent two days immersing themselves in the world of robotics and drones.

As HLIs, government agencies, and industry collaborate to organize this program, awareness of STEM can expand to a wider audience.

Furthermore, the POINT program is a continuation of Perbadanan Putrajaya’s efforts to create an innovative Putrajaya community. POINT is one of 93 initiatives of the Smart Putrajaya blueprint with an aim to make Putrajaya a smart city by the year 2025.

Schoolchildren’s interest in STEM has been sparked by this event, and it has certainly brought them joy. By prioritizing STEM education for schoolchildren, they can be equipped with the skills needed in the future.
