UiTM and KTMB – SMRI, Collaborate In Smart Manufacturing Engineering

SHAH ALAM, 1st APRIL 2022 – Today, Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM) and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) renewed their memorandum of understanding (MOU) and memorandum of agreement (MoA) at Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin’s Chancellery at UITM.

This research collaboration encompassing expertise sharing between the researchers group from UiTM and KTMB was sealed in the previous memorandum of understanding (MoU).

“KTMB always welcomes strategic partnership with various parties. The latest one is UiTM Shah Alam. This collaboration can help in research and creating the opportunities on the aspects of education and human capital development in the services related with trains”, said by Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, Chief Executive Officer of KTMB.

He added, “This MoA will be opened for 500 participants through internship workshop, contest specifically MOT and international programmmes”.

Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice-Chancellor UiTM, explained that this strategic partnership will enable UiTM to collaborate with KTMB, particularly in smart manufacturing engineering, as well as expertise in other fields, while also benefiting the nation by producing graduates prepared for the rail industry.

“This KTMB-UiTM collaboration will provide both parties and potential customers, industries and the public with better access to high-end facilities in the Smart Manufacturing Research Institute (SMRI)  as well as other facilities throughout UiTM. These industry connections and partnerships are essential in ensuring that UiTM’s research and innovation as well as teaching & learning remain impactful and are commercially viable to the industry and community in improving production and economic performance beyond this pandemic,” she added.
