23 May 2022 – TNCPI Office of UiTM visited Advanced Medical & Dental Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia to foster collaboration between the two institutions. UiTM delegates lead by YBhg Professor Ts. Dr Norazah Abd Rahman together with UiTM’s RMC were greeted by YBhg Professor Dr Tunku Kamarul, the Director of Advanced Medical & Dental Institute (AMDI) and his team.
“Although collaboration between UiTM and other institutions is not new, it is critical in terms of the long-term effects or sustainability of research and must begin somewhere. In this regard, I believe AMDI has the potential to form close collaborations with UiTM faculties of dentistry, applied sciences, and health sciences and College of Engineering. To me, as long as we have a clear goal and focus on one specific project, I am confident that it will benefit both institutions. I’m excited to learn about the opportunity or space (if there is one) for us to collaborate and succeed in research.”- Professor Norazah.
It has been in the major interest of our country to tackle many related issues in dentistry. For instance, the development of materials for dental implants requires a synergy of materials scientists, dentistry scientists, and practitioner/dentist. To produce something that is impactful, we should be able to work together, brainstorming and materialising it.
The collaboration between UiTM and AMDI USM could be in the form of research or laboratory work, publications, equipment usage, matching grants, organising conferences and many more. All these are in line with UiTM’s aspiration to be a globally renowned university by 2025 and to impact the world through high-quality research.
