Student Showcase at UiTM Perak Branch

Cameron Highlands, Pahang — The Department of Graphic Design & Digital Media at College of Creative Arts, UiTM Perak Branch, Campus Seri Iskandar proudly announces the commencement of REVIEW III, the third and final stage of the Final Year Project Evaluation for CAAD241 Bachelor in Graphic Design (Honors). This significant event unfolded from January 5 to January 7, 2024, amidst the breathtaking landscape of Cameron Highlands, Pahang. REVIEW III by REDEFINE 18 allows for thorough assessments and constructive feedback to propel the students towards excellence in their final-year projects.

With a total of 47 students participating, including three international students from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta (UNISA), Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and the guidance of 8 dedicated lecturers, REVIEW III by REDEFINE 18 marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication in the field of graphic design with four different majoring: Advertising, Multimedia, Corporate and Illustration.

 

 

In addition, three students from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta (UNISA) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, add an enriching international dimension to REVIEW III. This collaboration promotes cultural exchange and allows for a diverse perspective in the evaluation process, broadening the horizons of all participants. Besides, it enriches the academic experience and fosters a strong bond between Malaysia and Indonesia. By sharing ideas, perspectives, and cultural nuances, students from both nations create a unique synergy, promoting cross-cultural understanding. This collaboration extends beyond the academic realm, laying the foundation for future partnerships and enhancing global connectivity. UiTM Perak Branch is proud to champion this initiative, reinforcing the power of education in building bridges between nations.

To ensure the program remains relevant and proactive, REVIEW III by REDEFINE 18 has been curated with multiple objectives in mind:

  • Conducting Third Level Assessment: The primary purpose of REVIEW III is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the student’s performance in GDA646 (Advertising Design Execution), GDG646 (Graphic Design Studio), GDM646 (Multimedia Design Studio), and GDI646 (Illustration Design Studio). This assessment is designed to gauge the proficiency and mastery of the students in these crucial subjects, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of the graphic design industry.
  • Exposure to Scientific Programs: In an ever-evolving field like graphic design, exposure to scientific programs is crucial. REVIEW III aims to provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to the latest tools and technologies shaping the future of graphic design.
  • Sparking Innovation and New Ideas: The event is not just a platform for evaluation but also a hub for creativity and innovation. By showcasing the projects and designs of the students, REVIEW III intends to inspire fresh ideas and creative thinking, not only among the participants but also among the general public.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Aspiring graphic designers need more than technical skills. REVIEW III is structured to challenge students with real-world situations, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential to meeting the market’s dynamic demands.
  • Integration of Knowledge and Ideas: The appraisal process during REVIEW III involves not just evaluation but a dialogue between students and appraisers. This exchange aims to help students integrate the knowledge and ideas obtained from experienced professionals, aligning their graphic design skills with the current and future requirements of the market.

REVIEW III by REDEFINE 18 is not merely an endpoint but a launchpad for the graduating students of CAAD241 Bachelor in Graphic Design (Honors). The skills, insights, and experiences gained during this event will undoubtedly shape their future careers and contribute to the ever-evolving graphic design landscape.
