With online classes as being the norm of the day, an Academy of Language Studies lecturer from UiTM Cawangan Sabah initiated collaborative lessons by having a native English lecturer from USA to share in his ELC590 course on 24th and 30th November 2021. Professor Efila Jzar Simpson from Ben Davis University HS from Indianapolis shared about herself generally and highlighted how Indiana is popular for its sports and food.

This is followed by some pointers on how to be a confident speaker. It was really engaging with the q & a session ending with invitation to the presenter to come to Sabah by one of the students. The second session which was held on 30the of November was also joined by some students from Ben Davis university. This session was actually a meeting held according to a programme element as a guide for the students from UITM Sabah with the theme “Harvest Festival”. It was totally handled by the students from being the emcee, timekeeper, pause filler counter and impromptu master.

The sense of utter excitement can be felt throughout the meeting. ELC5903A3 and ELC5903A8 classes were involved in the first and second session. We are indeed thankful to the Academic Affairs rector , Dr. Firdausi Suffian for approving and supporting this initiative. It is hoped more collaborations would be planned in the coming semesters.
