Safety and Health Awareness Webinar: Safety at the Workplace

Under the theme “Safety at the Workplace,” Semester 5 students of the Faculty of Applied Science (Physics) UiTM Perak Branch, Tapah Campus, successfully organised the Webinar Service-Learning University Malaysia (SULAM) for the semesters of October 2023–February 2024. This event takes place on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Webex platform is used to deliver this webinar, which is conducted online. Students from Universitas Darussalam Gontor (UNIDA Gontor), which is located in Indonesia, make up the communities that participate in this programme. In the meantime, Encik Syafizul Ezzuan Ameruddin, an officer from Clariant Oil Services (M) Sdn Bhd, was the guest speaker for this particular session. After receiving his degree from UiTM, he is currently working as a senior manager in the Regional APAC Quality Health and Safety Education division.

The purpose of this programme is to develop the skills of students at UiTM in the area of organising programmes with the international community in order to raise awareness about health and safety, particularly with regard to safety in the workplace. Those who participated in this webinar were able to acquire a significant amount of new information.

The community was equipped with knowledge and information pertaining to workplace safety. This consists of educating individuals on the significance of workplace safety, the potential consequences of ignoring it, and the means by which to avert harm. Additionally, numerous organisations’ workplace safety requirements were emphasised in the programme. We intended for the dissemination of this information to cultivate a safety-oriented culture and increase community consciousness regarding workplace safety.

The feedback form was completed by the participants following the conclusion of the programme, and the vast majority expressed satisfaction with the programme. A quantity of the participants hold the opinion, as supported by their feedback and remarks, that this intriguing programme ought to be conducted in person later.
