Pekan Sarong takes place on December 15, 2023, and December 16, 2023. Pekan Sarong was inspired by Sarong Splash Run 1.0, organised by Leviosa as their fundraising event. Leviosa is a group of event management students from Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM Puncak Alam. They were encouraged to continue this idea as an inspiration for Pekan Sarong
as their final year project.
On Friday night, Malam Sarong took place as the first part of the main event. The events’ escalating excitement includes a variety of activities and performances that piqued the curiosity of all UiTM Puncak Alam students and people around Puncak Alam vicinity. Malam Sarong starts with a traditional dance from Kelab Aspirasi Budaya, as well as performances by Adrianna Cinta, Mizi Razak, and Lolaophy. The event itself appealed beautifully decorated with the element of Sarong.
Other than that, there are various of carboots sales available on site. From fresh flower carboots to the sale thrifted clothing, as well as food and beverages. Side attraction and activities also includes ‘Wayang Pacak’ with P. Ramlee’s all time favourite film, “Seniman Bujang Lapok”. There were 27 carboots and 3 food trucks in total. The vibes and atmosphere were amplified by the attendees that came with classic attire. Some became extra creative with props such as bath towel, old umbrella and sarong. All to grab their chances in becoming Permaisuri and Sultan of the night.
On Saturday, December 16th, these are the second part of the event named Sarong Splash Run 2.0. The event started from 7:00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on this day. The difference in this event is ticketed and providing running kit and fun water activities to play on that day. There are water pistols, waterproof phone case, sarong, drawstring bag, and medal are among the
items given in running kit.
The event began after distributing a light breakfast, bread and water. Before beginning their 5km run around UiTM Puncak Alam, the participants engaged in doing a light exercise called Zumba. The run began with a ‘bang’, thanks to an exhilarating opening count from the speaker. After the participant finished running the activities, which include a bouncy castle, Dj spin by
Piponation, and water activities with water pistols was waiting. Leviosa stated that the goal of the event is to foster a healthy lifestyle for the participants. Leviosa held a short side activity known as a traditional word play and it was known as the ‘Goreng Pisang’ game. After the word game, it was time to award medals and gifts to the top ten runners in the girl and boy
divisions of the run.
The highlight of the events is the water activities, which comes after the award ceremony. The event was able to obtain an endless supply of water for the bouncy castle thanks to our partnership with the fire service from Saujana Utama. The entrance of our guest DJ Piponation, who played malay classic remix songs for the participants to hear while enjoying
the water battle, made this activity much more entertaining.
The event organizers (Leviosa) were enthralled by the enthusiasm of the participants that day and joined in the water play session. Around 12.20 p.m., the event was coming to an end, and it was time to bid the participants farewell. After the event, all of the event organisers posed for a photo with their advisers and their honourable guest, Professor Dr. Firdaus
Abdullah, dean of the business management faculty. The event organisers (Leviosa) continued with a picture session, bringing the event to a close. At the end of both events, there are around 900 attendees that joining for both Malam Sarong and Sarong Splash Run2.0. Overall, the event was a great success and gaining approval from both our advisor and external advisor.
