The good relationship between UiTM and MBSB Bank was previously manifested through various collaborations and programs from ICAN WEEK to MACFEA-FBM International Conference 2022, and recently to the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 14th February 2023.

This time, the collaboration between the two parties continued under the program of “My School Our Future Generation (MBSB BANK-UiTM: MyGEN)”. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bongawan in Sabah, which is an MBSB Bank’s fostering school, has been selected for the MyGEN program. The program at SMK Bongawan was conducted on 5th and 6th September 2023 with the involvement of 8 facilitators from the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM.

The two-day program started with the “Celik Kewangan” (Financial Literacy) slot involving a total number of 135 Form 4 students. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Muhamad Sukor Jaafar (Leader), Dr. Noor Azzah Said, Mrs Nor Akila Mohd Kassim and Mr. Muhammad Abd Hadi Abd Rahman. A total of four modules namely “Simpanan, Tabungan, Hutang dan Sedekah”, “Pelaburan”, “Proses Perancangan Kewangan” and Aktiviti Perancangan Kewangan” were being delivered to the students.

On the following day, the programmes of “Motivasi dan Misi Akademik” (Motivational and Academic Mission) session was conducted by Dr. Mohd Zamri (Leader), Dr. Murni Zarina Mohamed Razali, Dr. Norfarehan Omar and Mr. Ahmad Zuhairi Zainuddin for a total of 166 Form 5 students. During the sessions, the students were given motivational talk and exposed to the opportunities they have after completing their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

SMK Bongawan is honoured and delighted with the organization of this program at their school. Indeed, it is believed that such a program not only helps strengthen cooperation between the university and industry but also empowers and diversifies the learning mechanism at school.
