KOTA PADANG, 10th June 2023 – The International Program Vision Zero Community – Engineering Invention towards Road Safety, in collaboration with Universitas Andalas, is set to take place at Masjid At Taqwa, Kampung Olo, Nanggalo, Kota Padang, Indonesia. This program aims to raise awareness and introduce the concept of “Vision Zero” to the community, with a focus on preventing road accidents and reducing the rate of serious accidents and fatalities.
The highlight of the program is the distribution of “reflective blinkers” to the community. These blinkers serve as a safety measure for motorcyclists, ensuring that they are visible to other road users, particularly during nighttime. The program organizers, led by the Student Engineering in Society group, will conduct demonstrations on the proper usage of these reflective blinkers, emphasizing their importance in enhancing road safety.
The collaboration between Universitas Andalas, RQA Consultant, Bina Asli Ventures, and Green IBS Consult underscores the commitment to promoting road safety and accident prevention within the community. By providing practical interventions and educational initiatives, the program aims to instill a sense of responsibility and commitment to road safety among the participants.
The program, which started on May 31, 2023, aims to create a lasting impact and contribute to the reduction of road accidents in the area. Through the distribution of reflective blinkers and educational activities, the organizers hope to encourage the local community to prioritize road safety and make a positive change in their daily lives.
In continuation of the program, a separate knowledge-sharing session was conducted. The session was delivered by Ts Elmi Alif and Prof Yosritzal from Universitas Andalas. The Knowledge-Sharing Session took place at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Andalas, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, involving lecturers and students from the university.
On June 1st, we joined the Mechanical Engineering Program at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Andalas, for the inauguration ceremony of a water tank prepared by the university at Masjid Al Jihad, Kampung Magek in Bukit Tinggi. We also distributed the Safety Reflective Blinker devices to the community in the vicinity.
As Vision Zero Community – Engineering Intervention towards Road Safety takes place, it serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in creating safer roads. By working together and embracing the principles of Vision Zero, we can strive towards a future with zero road accidents and fatalities, making our communities safer and more secure for everyone.
