Recently, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, hosted the “International Collaborative Teaching Webinar: Current Trends in IT for Development.” This webinar was organized by the School of Computing Sciences, College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics at UiTM, specifically for the Information Technology and Global Development (ICT754) course in the Master of Science in Information Technology academic program. The event, conducted via Microsoft Teams on 9 December 2023, at 3 pm (MYT), embraced a collaborative approach featuring an International Guest Speaker and moderation by Professor Ts. Dr. Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Mohd Isa from the School of Computing Sciences, College of Computing, Informatics and Mathematics at UiTM.
The esteemed International Guest Speaker for the seminar was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soo Yuen Jien, the Director of the Centre for Development of Teaching & Learning (CDTL). He is also the Associate Professor of Computer Science at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore, Singapore. His presentation, titled “Current Trends in IT for Development,” provided comprehensive insights into the subject matter. The Q&A session allowed students to actively interact with the International Guest Speaker, leveraging the opportunity to acquire valuable knowledge and perspectives from an experienced expert in Information Technology.
This webinar, integrated into the Information Technology and Global Development (ICT754) course within the Master of Science in Information Technology, Semester October 2023 – February 2024, significantly enriched student learning and reinforced the execution of educational activities. The collaboration with the International Guest Speaker aimed to enhance current pedagogical methods, ensuring alignment with the ongoing developments in Information Technology.
