Explorace Financial Literacy- SULAM Group Project NBH4B

SHAH ALAM, 17th June 2023 – On Saturday, 17th June 2023, iCEPs’ students from BA243 NBH4A has executed successfully their FIN533 (Personal Financial Planning) SULAM group project in UiTM Shah. The project was organized with the cooperation of PTAR 1, UiTM Shah Alam. This group has organized a treasure hunt which was opened to all students in UiTM Shah Alam. The treasure hunt was called “Explorace Financial Literacy” and has managed to attract the participation of students from various faculties in UiTM Shah Alam namely the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Sport Science and Recreation, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies and many others. All together there were thirteen (13) teams which had registered and participated in the event, with each team comprised of three (3) members.

The treasure hunt has started at 8.30am with the registration of participants. All participants were provided with breakfast, lunch, and mineral water. The event has been flagged of at 9.30am. There were nine (9) checkpoints, in which each checkpoint, students will be given some personal financial planning related questions and tasks. Since the day was quite hot, the organizers had taken some measures to avoid heatstroke by ensuring all checkpoints were in shaded areas and each participant was provided with bottled water so that they can keep themselves hydrated. All teams that had completed their challenges were placed in air-conditioned area within PTAR 1 compound while waiting for the winner’s announcement.

The first team that managed to complete all tasks and questions in all nine (9) checkpoints was considered the champion. The winners were awarded handsomely with some cash money and hampers. The champion was given RM200 plus hamper, the first runner up was given RM150 plus hamper and the second runner up was given RM100 plus hamper.

The participants and the organizers were seen to have fun throughout the treasure hunt session. All participants had put up a good fight to win and had done their best. Considering none of them were business students, it was quite impressive as all participants that had participated, managed to complete the treasure hunt in just an hour. They managed to answer all personal finance related questions and tasks easily. If any team was grappling to find the answers, after a few tries, then they were allowed to google for the answers.

Regardless of the prizes, the main objective of this event was to instill personal financial planning knowledge among non-business students and to spread the awareness in society about the importance of personal financial planning. Hope the objective has been met successfully.
